Roaming the
hills and valleys of the Nepal Himalayas
An illustrated talk by Bill Norman
on his 30 years involvement with Nepal and the Nepalese. Elizabeth Freke Hall,

St. Georges Day Dinner 2006
This was held in Shroton Village Hall on 23rd April from 6.00pm.
Entertainment included a Mummers play and dance displays, with dinner with drinks.
It raised over £400.
Quiz evening 2006
This is in the Cricketers, Shroton on the 14th May at 7.30 for a 7.45 start.
Cost £2.50 per person teams of 4 or more. This was very successful, thanks to
the Cricketers and the Bates family for their work.
Details of previous weekend/Ball
This is being held on the 27th to 28th May at
Springhead, a 18th century mill set in delightful gardens with lake, on the edge of the North Dorset
downs. You will learn a number of dances including some mentioned in Jane
Austen's novels and seen in Film/TV adaptations. Then experience a Regency style
Ball and period style buffet (period costume encouraged but as long as your
clothes are comfortable and suitable for dancing that's all that needed), were
you can dance, enjoy the music, play period card games or take a stroll around
the delightful gardens of Springhead. This is intended to be a fun weekend
that can be enjoyed by all, whatever your dancing experience.Itinerary for the weekend26th - arrival for those with accommodation.
27th - day of learning dances with lunch, Ball with
buffet in the
evening (drinks available).
28th - learn a few more dances with the weekend
finishing with lunch.
Springhead is an 18th century mill and lake set in beautiful formal gardens beneath the North Dorset
Downs. Springhead Mill is managed by Springhead Trust which was set up to promote the aims of Rolf Gardiner, and
is his former home. He was a pioneer of the organic movement and instrumental in
the folk revival of the early twentieth century. Located in Fontmell Magna just off the A350 between Shaftesbury and Blandford with the nearest train
station being Gillingham (Dorset), Springhead is easy to get to.
